SGM (Sergeant Major) R (Retired) Lawrence Lopez enlisted with the Active Army on 15 May 1989 and attended basic training and advanced individual training at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Military Occupational Specialties he has been awarded are:
- Armor Crewman (19K)
- Automated Logistical Supply Specialist (92A)
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Specialist (74D)
- Human Intelligence Collector (35M)
In 1996, Lawrence left active duty and enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving in a variety of positions, including being hired as an Active Guard Reserve in 2003 with the Utah National Guard.
Lawrence deployed to the Persian Gulf in 1990 in support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, and in 2008 he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Lawrence retired from the military on 1 October 2019 and transitioned to Government Contracting and to a Government Employee role at Hill Air Force Base until 31 December 2021. Lawrence attempted to retire fully but quickly realized he required a purpose. That's where he started his next chapter, working as a Veteran Employment Counselor for the Utah Department of Workforce Services, and quickly transitioned to his current role as the Davis County Workforce Development Specialist.
