About our Speakers:
David Gray
HR Director for Lagoon
David Gray is the Human Resources Leader for Lagoon Amusement Park located in Farmington. David has been with Lagoon for over 25 years, beginning his career scooping ice cream at the park at the age of 15.
As Lagoon’s Human Resources Leader, David oversees the park’s various HR functions for a seasonal staff of over 3,000 team members and a full-time year-round staff of 175. During his tenure in the HR role at Lagoon, David has been instrumental in creating several successful new recruitment strategies, employee engagement initiatives, and leadership development programs. One of David’s strongest passions is making sure each team member at Lagoon has an amazing and rewarding experience; an experience that they will carry with them throughout their life and future careers.
David has an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State University, and maintains a SPHR certification (Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources). David is currently serving on various industry and community boards and committees including the IAAPA Human Resources Committee (Global Association for the Attractions Industry), Utah Workforce Services Development Board, Davis Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute, and Leadership Learning Academy Charter School Board.
Tami Olsen
Head of Corporate Recruiting for Young Automotive Group
Tami is the Recruiting and Foundation Director for the Young Automotive Group. She has spent her career helping individuals and companies evolve socially and culturally, and believes that serving others is the greatest gift you can give yourself and the people you love.
She currently serves on various community and industry boards and committees including the Davis Education Foundation, the Bountiful Food Pantry, and Chair’s the Davis Chamber Women in Business Committee.
Her professional experience includes Corporate Recruiting, Non-Profit Management, Human Resources and Work Life Management, Continuous Improvement Teams Leadership, and Enhanced Customer Experience Management. She has been with the Young Automotive Group for 16 years, and has been the Director of their foundation, Young Caring for Our Young for the past 4 years.
Throughout her career, regardless of her professional title, her focus has been to find talent, and match their passion and skills with companies who have strong business models so everyone thrives.
Tami lives in Davis County with her husband Joe, and their proudest accomplishments are their two amazing daughters and two “brilliant” grandsons who are the light of their lives.
She is a proud WSU Wildcat who loves sports and skiing and absolutely cannot wait for the football season to start. Go CATS!!
Mark Knold
Chief Economist for the Utah Department of Workforce Services
Mark Knold is the Chief Economist for the Utah Department of Workforce Services. Mark has worked for the department for 31 years and holds a Master’s Degree in economics from the University of Utah. His role is to oversee the department’s economic staff and to convey clearly and concisely labor market-related economic issues and trends affecting Utah.
