About our Speakers and Service Project:
Jennie Taylor
Rise Above the Storm
Jennie is a proud native of North Ogden. She has a bachelor's degree from BYU and a Masters of Education from Utah State University. She met her husband, Brent, on a blind date less than a month after serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (in Chile), and they were married 9 months later. Jennie and Brent share a deep devotion to serving God, Family and Country whenever and however they can. This commitment led to 15 years of military service for Brent, including four deployments to the Middle East. Brent also served on the North Ogden City Council for four years, and as Mayor of North Ogden for five years. Brent and Jennie are the proud parents of seven children, ages 2 to 14.
In January of 2018, Brent left his position as Mayor and went to Afghanistan with the U.S. Army for what would have been a year-long deployment. On November 3, 2018, Major Taylor was killed in action and life for the Taylor family seemed to have flipped upside down. In the months since Brent's shocking death, Jennie has unexpectedly and frequently found herself in a position to speak out about the price of freedom, the value of community support, and the healing that can be found when moving forward with a conviction to find hope and happiness in spite of life's heartache and pain.
Cydni Tetro
The Art of the Ask
Cydni is a tech founder & entrepreneur, STEM advocate, speaker, and influential leader. She is the founder and CEO of ForgeDX, an interactive experience platform. She was previously CEO and founder of venture-backed 3DplusMe, a 3D printing personalization platform, that was acquired. She spent 5 years at Disney as an Entrepreneur in Residence in Imagineering, driving technology commercialization across Theme Parks, ESPN, ABC, and Interactive. She is faculty for the Goldman Sachs 10k Program and Babson Exec Ed and founder & President of the Women Tech Council that focuses on the economic impact of women in tech with programs from high school to the board room.
Prior to Disney, she was COO and CMO at technology companies that were acquired by Ancestry, Proofpoint & FAST. She has built technology and digital experiences used by the world’s largest brands, retailers and companies including Disney, Microsoft, ProofPoint, Ancestry, Marvel, Star Wars, Facebook, MLB, MLS, Warner Brothers, NFL, Disney Stores, Target and Walmart. Cydni holds a master’s degree in business administration and a Bachelor's in computer science.
Cydni will be answering the question - How can you fearlessly ask for what you need or want for your business or career? Every one of us, through the course of our careers, is faced with situations where we need to ask for something that makes us uncomfortable, feel inadequate and even make us question ourselves. Asking is an art and understanding how to break through the barriers and what tools can help define the ask, create the right mindset and enable you to negotiate the outcome you need is critical. Whether it’s fundraising, a promotion, a sales deal, a partnership or anything else being fearless in the ask accelerates opportunity.
Days for Girls Service Project
Our service project this year will support Days for Girls, an organization that increases access to menstrual care products and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. Together, they are creating a world with dignity, health, and opportunity for all.
Their movement has reached more than one million girls — and counting! With your help, we can reach Every Girl. Everywhere. Period.
