--------
Todd Derrick began his career in April 1999 after graduating from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in French. He worked as a patrol officer until December 2003 when he moved into the Detective's division. There he specialized in major crimes (i.e. Adult and Child Homicides, Robberies, Death Investigations, Aggravated Assaults and all other crimes against persons.) In 2007, Todd was the first Northern Davis County affiliate to work with the Attorney General's Office on the Internet Crimes Against Children's Task Force (ICAC). Also in 2007, he was the first detective to go undercover conducting VICE operations arresting both males and females.
In October of 2008, Todd was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant where he served in that capacity until late 2012. He then moved back into the Investigations Division as the Detective Sergeant over all School Resource Detectives and again joined the ICAC Task Force hunting down child sex predators on the Internet.
In September of 2017, Todd was reassigned back to the Patrol Division and is currently working as a Patrol Sergeant.
Some of Todd's greatest accomplishments are...
2 Life Saving Awards, several unit citation awards, 3 Distinguished Unit Citation awards, Detective of the Year in 2006, and also holds the Utah record for the farthest traveler case in the Attorney General's history of undercover chats. From 2002 to 2010, Todd served on the Layton City SWAT team, where he was a Sniper Marksman, Entry Assault Lead and eventually a Team Leader.
Todd has an amazing wife of almost 22 years and three wonderful children, ages 18, 14 and 10.
